Resident communication

The message belongs
with the property.

Send resident messages and building announcements from Talvi, alongside the rent, repair, and lease records your team already uses.

Use the right place for the conversation.

A message for one resident.

Some questions belong in a direct conversation: a detail about a repair, a document the resident cannot find, or a question about their home. Talvi gives residents and management a shared place to exchange messages.

Keep private details in the individual conversation. Your team can refer to the relevant property records when responding instead of asking the resident to explain their address and situation again.

An announcement for the building.

For a shared update, use a building announcement. Let residents know about work in a common area, a planned service interruption, or another change affecting the property.

Write the time, location, expected effect, and person to contact in the announcement. Residents need to know what to do next; a subject line saying only “Important update” leaves the useful part out.

Keep the repair details with the repair.

A conversation can explain what is happening, but the work order should still hold the repair record. Talvi brings these tools into the same workspace so the person answering a resident has a place to check the job.

The same team often handles both jobs. Keeping a clear record helps when someone else answers the next message or when you return to the issue after a busy day.

Use updates to tell residents what is known, what you are waiting for, and when you will check in again. The message is useful even when the repair is not finished yet.

Residents start with an invitation.

Your landlord or manager invitation connects the resident to the right home in Talvi. Residents then use the same email when signing in to the Talvi app or resident web account.

Tell people where you want routine requests to go, and keep your emergency contact instructions clear. A message in an app should not leave a resident guessing who to call for an urgent problem.

One support contact for your team.

You do not need a separate messaging software account to use Talvi’s messages and announcements.

Residents’ notification settings and device permissions affect delivery. Ask us which notification channels your setup will use and review any applicable charges before you start.

Support is available by email and in-app chat. We typically reply within a few hours, seven days a week.
